About Holly
A native of the Twin Cities, Holly (Stiles) Quant received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota where she studied and completed her Suzuki Pedagogy training with Mark Bjork. Holly began her violin studies at age five with Joy Moeller at the MacPhail Center for Music and later studied with renowned violin teacher Mary West. Holly was a member of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies for nearly a decade and attended various summer institutes, including the Castleman Quartet Program, Madeline Island Music Camp, and the MasterWorks Festival.
While in high school, Holly placed in numerous solo competitions, including the Schubert Club and Thursday Musical. She won the Minnesota and West Central division levels of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competition. She also participated twice in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She was the winner of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies solo competition, as well as the grand prize winner of the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest. In addition to appearing as a solo competition winner with various orchestras in the Twin Cities, Holly gave multiple solo performances with the Minnesota Orchestra as the Young People's Symphony Concert Association (YPSCA) competition winner.
Over the years, Holly has performed as a soloist and in string quartets on both violin and viola for weddings, concerts, and special events. She has maintained a small studio while being a mother to her six children, four of whom play the violin. Having lived in many parts of the country, including Atlanta, Las Vegas, and East Texas, Holly is glad to be back home in the Twin Cities close to family.
